Jeera Rasam is a flavorful South Indian soup made with cumin seeds, tomatoes, and spices. It's known for its tangy and aromatic taste, perfect for cold days or as a soothing dish anytime.
Ingredients:
- 1 tbsp ghee
- 1 tsp mustard seeds
- 1 tsp cumin seeds jeera
- 1-2 dried red chilies
- 1/2 tsp asafoetida hing
- 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 small tomato, chopped
- 1 tbsp tamarind paste
- 1-2 green chilies, slit
- 1/4 cup chopped coriander leaves
- Salt to taste
- Water as needed
Instructions:
Heat ghee in a pan and add mustard seeds
Let them splutter
Add cumin seeds, dried red chilies, and asafoetida
Saute for a few seconds
Add turmeric powder and chopped tomatoes
Cook until tomatoes are soft
Add tamarind paste and slit green chilies
Mix well
Pour in water and bring to a boil
Simmer for 5-7 minutes
Add chopped coriander leaves and salt
Stir well
Serve hot
